Historical Watermill 'Remanente' in Las Nieves
The mill was built in the 18th century right there where the canyon 'El Rio' opens, less than 10 minutes by car from the centre of Santa Cruz and the beach, at a five minutes walk from the island's supreme church 'Las Nieves', at an altitude of 250 mts above sea level. Despite its romantic-rural situation it is easily accessible through a country road passing nearby. The last 100 mts have to be done on foot along a steep cobble stone path. In the surroundings small farmers cultivate fruit trees and vegetables and keep cattle. Twice a day goats are being driven into the nearby mountains covered by thick pine forests. Their paths are ideal for walks into the nature starting right at the mill. Two restaurants are within a few minutes' walking distance. By car it takes less than five minutes to the nearest grocery. We do recommend a car. Car Hire
The complex itself is built onto a ridge and offers breathtaking views into the canyons underneath and all the way down to the sea. It has been restored completely in 1999 and consists of the mill tower and two holiday flats.
